Where can I go to get my three credit scores without getting the free reports with “hidden monthly charges”?

09 Jun

I have been checking online and have not been having much luck. I don’t mind spending money, I just want something that does not charge monthly like most of the free reports do. I need all three different FICO scores from each reporting agency. I also don’t need that identity theft protection that most sites offer or slide in through the fine print. Does anyone know of a site and have experience using it?

The credit reports are free from http://www.annualcreditreport.com without fine print but unfortunately you have to pay for the scores. You can get an estimate from http://www.creditkarma.com but that’s not official. It is simply estimated but at least it’s free.

You can buy a service and then cancel it after one month.

There are more than three scores. Each bureau calculates different scores for different classes of client like mortgages or car lenders or credit card lenders.

You don’t really need your scores at all. They’re calculated from your credit report, so if that’s good then you will have a good score. If you have junk on your report, then your score will stink. Either way, knowing your exact number does you no good. This is a lot of hype put out by the bureaus to replace the revenue lost when they have to show you your report for free.

The only way to get your most recent score (and the correct one) is to contact each CRA individually and pay their fees. All three have websites where you can buy your scores.

Or you can use MyFICO to purchase your score from trans-union and Equifax, Experian has since split with FICO so you will have to contact them separately.

Also a person can have a “clean credit report” and still have a low score due to low credit usage or if they are always close to their credit limits even if they pay every month on time. There are many factors involved in credit score calculations.

It does not hurt to know your score. This way you have an idea of whether or not you will wind up paying a higher APR and if you score has increased a lot since you last purchased auto or home insurance, you should contact the insurance company for a lower rate as they use credit scores to base insurance rates.

Hope this helps answer your question.

Having a good credit score (also known as a FICO score) during an economic downturn gives a person a huge advantage over someone with a poor FICO score. Typically, when the economy turns sour, there are bargains to be had, particularly in the real estate market , that are only available to people with large amounts of cash on hand (not likely), or people with good credit who can borrow and make bargain basement real estate investments. Applying for loans and other unsecured lines of credit credit just makes life a lot easier for you in a bad economy. So what can you do right now to improve your FICO score?

The only site where you can get your free credit report (all Americans are entitled to one free credit report within a 12-month period from each of the three agencies) is http://credit-info.we.bs/ but no credit scores. Credit scores are available as an add-on feature of the report, for a fee. This central site allows you to request a free credit file disclosure, commonly called a credit report, from each of the nationwide consumer credit reporting companies: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. In the so called ‘free credit score’ sites, you will have to sign up for their ‘other services’ to check your score for free. Best of Luck…

credit-report-free.totalh.com – try this site. I use it to monitor my credit and also cleaned off some bad items from my credit report. You can apply for free initial plan and get your scores and reports for free.
