The government set it up so you are allowed one free credit report per year. This is the site where you access it. It really is free. But you will have to pay for the FICO score. However, it gives you details about your credit report from 3 agencies.

I have used the “free” ones before, and had to cancel because they were going to charge me every month. annualcreditreport.com is the one that ACTUALLY is free. But again, only once a year.
